Monthly Roundup #32 - October '20

Welcome back to my next newsletter! I’m pleased to say that in my case, October was another step in the right direction - although there is still a mighty long way to go before it’s back to normal, it goes without saying! This month the teaching side of things has picked up a bit, and there was a spot of recording to enjoy too.

First of all, I was delighted to get back to 2 of my 4 schools, where I’ve been able to start giving drum lessons in person once again - for the first time since March! While the online lessons have been serving me well - and are continuing to do so for those students whose schools still can’t accommodate our lessons in person just yet - you can’t beat the real thing of having drum lessons together in the same room (in my humble opinion)! It’s been so wonderful to get back to teaching under slightly more normal circumstances, and I hope to get back to my other schools again before too long… fingers crossed!

As we had rehearsed for in September, October brought about the recording date for Jack Allsobrook’s upcoming EP. It was a sheer delight to spend the day in the studio tracking drums and bass, and it was great to get some of my gear back under the mics too - I was chuffed to bits with how it all sounded! I shall look forward to hearing the finished product… watch this space!

Although last month we got back to doing our drum hang in person, this time we were back to doing so online via Zoom. Regardless, it was wonderful to catch up with more local drummers, and we shall hope to get back to meeting in person again before too long!
