Monthly Roundup #14 - April '19
/April was a relatively quiet month with a bit of time off over the Easter holidays, but there were still a few gigs to crack on with! There were some functions, some Eagles tributes, and some prep for other upcoming gigs.
The first gig of the month was an outing with the Rhythm Crew, following on from a busy March with the band. As always, it was a nice, local gig with good company, so what’s not to like about that?!
Over the next couple of weeks that followed, it was more-or-less just some time off over the school Easter holidays, catching up with things and spending time with family. During the weekend of the holidays though, I did get invited to play at a friend’s church, where there is a very talented bunch of musicians indeed! It was lovely to join them and play with them, having not played with them for quite a while.
The following weekend brought the Easter break to an end, when I had a couple of outings with the Alter Eagles in Dover on Good Friday and Whitstable on the Saturday. The Dover venue was a specific music venue, and the Whitstable one a lovely little theatre, which was apparently converted from an old church. It was a lovely spot with a sold out crowd - nice!
The last gig of April was another one with the Rhythm Crew, this time a little further afield. We had to get in pretty early so there was lots of time to hang out which was a laugh, but it was nice to get playing later on as the attendees were really up for it and dancing away!
The final point of interest was the monthly drum hang, once again! This time we picked the brains of one of the groups members who has had a long and varied musical career, so he took some time to share some of his stories and experiences which was both interesting and enjoyable!
So as you see, April wasn’t too crazy, but it was most enjoyable! There are some more things coming up in May which I’m looking forward to, so I’ll be sure to fill you in on those next time… As always, thanks for checking in and I’ll catch you next time! All the best, Ed.
